It's beautiful and the scale of nature's canvas is unlike anywhere else in the United States. Because Alaska is far away it takes a lot of planning (see our itinerary) and patience to get there. Flight time from Rochester to Anchorage, via Chicago, is a whopping 8.5 hours.
The same flight time would get you to Milan!
Since there are only a few flights a day to Anchorage from Rochester, we have a pesky 6 hour layover at O'Hare International Airport, which is long even for the nicest of airports (like the Lufthansa private terminal).
My son reminded me that we have an opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of the terminal while waiting for our flight to Anchorage. He suggested the relaxing environment of a United Club to pass the time in comfort. A great idea!
With several locations to choose from at O'Hare, the United Club is a relaxing environment with soft lounge chairs and private restroom facilities. Complimentary beverages, snacks, Wi-Fi and expansive views of the airfield will help pass the time.
Pro Tip: Day passes can be purchased at most airline lounges in the United States
Sue and I are looking forward to our adventure and traveling as comfortably as we can to the end of the earth!
