Europe Bound!

Life goes by fast, and 7 years after our amazing trip to Asia, it was time to start planning for another adventure. We started working on this trip one year from our departure. Like last time, our destination would be up to mom, but overall we were going for a more relaxed experience, or so we thought! We decided to focus on Europe and once we found a sweet spot in the calendar (two week March break between my classes), we had our dates. I started to work on securing the award space for our business class flights across the atlantic, and assemble our accommodation options for further review and selection.

During the next few months we hammered out a schedule, Amsterdam, The Hague, Osnabruck, Berlin, and Brussels. We would take planes, trains and automobiles, and meet with friends along the way. If you know anything about us, our plans were locked, and all logistics secured a good 6 months from the trip. Totally ready, what could go wrong?

Fast forward 6 weeks before our departure, as the trip is just getting into view, disaster struck. My school schedule changed and I’d be missing two classes. This was like a meteor hitting the earth and wiping out the dinosaurs or, in this case, our trip. In between our already packed schedules, we started furiously moving around our entire itinerary. At 5 weeks out, we were able to move the entire trip forward 2 weeks. It was an all out effort and we had to make sacrifices along the way, but in the end we were all systems go! Little did we know that this would foreshadow more changes to come.

All aboard as Darin and Sheila explore Europe!
