Star Wars and Clubhouses

There is a great scene in one of the Star Wars movies where many aliens from different planets are together in club just doing their thing. Terminal 4 at JFK is a lot like that scene. Many people from different cultures, in different types of clothing, speaking many languages just doing their thing. You are immediately transported to a different world and it is very clear that the vacation has begun.

Just in case there are any lingering doubts, we entered the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse. Free food made to order, free champagne, free wine, free soft drinks, free peanuts, pretzels and whatever FREE, FREE, FREE! Everyone few minutes some nice person comes by and asks "would you like anything else", may I clear that trash away?" or may I bring you some of the most expensive, utterly delicious most exclusive food and drink you will ever have? for FREE?! You get the point.

When the diplomats arrived in the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse from the UN General Assembly on their way home, we decided it was time to move to the SWISS Lounge. All those private bodyguards and government types made us think about front page news. A real downer when you are on vacation. The SWISS lounge was less flashy, quiet and a great place to hang out until our Singapore Airlines flight to Frankfurt was ready to board.

Okay, I'm reading all about the wonderful free food and drinks, but in the picture at the airport, I see french fries and potato chips in front of Darin. It this the farewell to American food? Connie
