Lufthansa First Class Terminal is not our destination – just a way station to Hong Kong which is 10 hours and 30 minutes away. And we left the Terminal in style!
Our flight to Hong Kong was scheduled to depart at 5:45pm and at 5:15pm we were still in the lounge. It was clear to me that we were going to miss the flight and encounter our first snafu of this adventure. However at 5:20pm a Lufthansa agent said it was time to go to the gate.
We were escorted to the ground floor of the Lufthansa First Class Terminal where an Immigration Agent stamped our passports. Nice – no line, no waiting.
We were handed off to a Lufthansa agent and driven to the gate – via the tarmac. We were escorted to the plane and past the Lufthansa flight attendant at the entrance to the plane. She kindly blocked the path of the 350 or so incoming passengers for us and said, good day have a nice flight.
We were escorted past the Lufthansa flight attendant at the entrance to the coach section, who said, good day have a nice flight. We were escorted past the Lufthansa flight attendant at the foot of the stairs leading to the first class cabin who said, good day have a nice flight.
At the top of the stairs to the first class section (upper deck) a Lufthansa flight attendant said, good day Ms. Gaddis and Mr. Smith-Gaddis, your seats are right over there. Once seated the chief flight attendant, in charge of all flight attendants the world over came to our seats and said, good day Ms. Gaddis and Mr. Smith-Gaddis have a nice flight; I am the chief flight attendant in charge of all flight attendants. If you need anything at all, let me know.
Nice – no line, no waiting, no customs, no security, no pat-down.
The feeling of well being lasted until the dinner menu was given to us and the 16 other passengers in the first class cabin. Wonder how cured breast of beef with sour milk cheese vinaigrette tastes? Or snow pea soup with mint? Or filet of pikeperch in savoy cabbage leaf on celery puree? Or goulash of styrian pumpkin?
At breakfast, the sense of wonder continued as we stared at the curd cream with shaved almonds. We asked for, and received, scrambled eggs with bacon.
Two travel warn passengers finally touch down in Hong Kong!
